Wildlife Affairs

     

    This year WILDLIFE AFFAIRS 2010, was organized by Wild Orissa, at Puri in association with the Ghanashyama Hemalata Institute of Technology and Management, Puri (GHITM). Vice Chairman GHITM Mr. Gyanendra Mallik, Director (Academics) GHITM Mr. Ashok Jordar, and faculty members and large number of students from Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical disciplines, participated. Senior officials from the Puri Wildlife Division, including the Assistant Conservator of Forests Mr. R.K.Padhi, participated. This year special emphasis was laid on deliberations with local educational institutions for involving them in wildlife conservation.


    Director (Academics) GHITM Mr. Ashok Jordar spoke about India’s biodiversity and also the need to address concerns at their loss. Mr. Diptiranjan Patra, Program Head, Balukhand-Konark Conservation Program, Wild Orissa, emphasized that development activities need to be in consonance with a balanced eco-system approach as being the only means to ensure a healthy world for the human beings.
    Mr. Santosh Kumar Panda, was awarded the Best Forest Guard Award by GHITM.
    An exhibition of rare photographs on India’s biodiversity was inaugurated followed by a film show on tiger conservation. Saplings were planted on the occasion.
